About

I write about work stress, clarity, and the small daily rituals that restore closure.

Why I Built Clock Out

Clock Out started as a personal solution to a problem I couldn't shake: the inability to truly stop working when the workday ended.

I spent almost ten years working remotely as a software engineer and team lead. And for most of that time, I couldn't figure out how to actually end the workday. Even when I closed my laptop, work followed me — replaying difficult conversations, overthinking messages I'd sent, worrying about tomorrow's tasks. My evenings felt like an extension of the workday, and it was affecting my relationships and my peace of mind.

Remote work makes this worse in ways I didn't fully understand at the time. There's no commute to decompress on. No physical separation between your desk and your couch. The workday doesn't end — it just fades. And your brain, left without a clear signal that it's over, keeps running.

I tried journaling apps, meditation apps, and productivity systems. Some helped a little, but most were either too complex, too time-consuming, or felt like adding another task to an already overwhelming day. What finally worked was creating a simple, 5-minute ritual: one focused question, a brief reflection, and a deliberate way to close the day.

Clock Out is that ritual, refined and made accessible. It's the app I wish I'd had years ago — private, simple, and genuinely effective at helping you leave work at work. If it helps you end your day feeling even a little bit clearer and more present, then it's done its job.
